I have been traveling my whole life and I didn’t know that this was not everyone else’s normal until much later on in life. When I was 6 or 7 years old, my grandparents moved to Hawaii. I ended up visiting them every summer until I was in my early teens. The first time I went, my mom escorted me but the times after that, I traveled alone. Those were the days when my parents could drop me off at the gate and hand me off to a flight attendant and my grandparents were there to greet me when the plane landed. I had a great time on the plane and made friends with the crew and even got to go in the cockpit to meet the pilots. It set the foundation for my love of travel and Hawaii.
